1870's Antique Swedish Mora Clock with Inlayed Wood Design 
Higher end Swedish Mora grandfather clock in the female style. This is hazelnut wood with inlayed wood in various patterns. Most Mora clock cases are softwood pine and the hazelnut wood case was considerably more expensive wood to use. The hood is round topped with a raised flat surface crown. The hood door has convex glass, steel hinge and an interior latch design. The middle section door is solid paneled with keyed latch and circular inlay wood design. The bottom panel is raised from the floor. This is another indication of quality as it took more effort to cut the scrolled design to form corner feet.
The movement is brass plated with a single bell chime. Brass metal was considerably more expensive than using steel. Another indication of quality. The dial is two part, open brass cut hour hands, black color hour numerals.
